The first collaboration nights with Verz and ame, inviting incredible duo, Sonic Luz who examines the technology of optosonic synthesizers into the era of DIY, and celebrating new Verz label releases.
Verz Imprint is a Phil S. Maguire’s label that curates and supports quiet music and art, founded in 2016 by Phil Maguire. At present, the project consists of a netlabel (verz imprint) and concert series (verznights). The project attempts to explore the what and why of ‘quiet’ music past and present, and what ‘quietness’ means in contemporary art(s). The label releases albums of quiet electronics, contemporary composition, and improvisation, and verzcast features interviews with composers, performers, and writers.

Phil S. Maguire
Phil Maguire is an experimental musician/improviser/sound artist making reductive music that explores emptiness and malfunction. Simplicity is at the core of his work. He uses cheap electronics, open source software, and obsolete audio equipment to create sparse sonic environments for reflections, both inner (self) and outer (the world). These are often very quiet; very loud; loud made quiet; quiet made loud.
This work extends into composed instrumental music, via short text scores and instructions. These works have been performed by the likes of Garth Knox, Juice Vocal Ensemble, and Mark Sanders.
Phil improvises with cheap electronics, using the same emptiness to create charged interactions with other musicians and audiences; solo, and in groups, with musicians including Phil Durrant, Eleanor Cully, and James L. Malone.
Phil runs verz, a label and series presenting quiet music and sound art.
The programme is funded by the Austrian Cultural Forum London
