ANDIE BROWN – glass and electronics

In 2007 Andie began performing and recording as a solo artist with glass and electronics under the name “These Feathers Have Plumes”, while also collaborating with a diverse range of artists, most often with Sharon Gal in the duo “Mami Wata”. She has recently moved from London to Yorkshire to begin her masters degree at Huddersfield University.

ANNE-F JACQUES & RYOKO AKAMA – objects and electronics

This collaboration of Canadian sound artist Anne-F Jacques and Ryoko Akama was only possible with the support of Algomech Festival 2017 (9-12th November) and this performance will be the follow-up to their residency at the festival.

Anne-F Jacques is a sound artist based in Montreal, Canada. She is interested in amplification, erratic sound reproduction devices and construction of various contraptions and idiosyncratic systems. Her particular focus is on low technology, trivial objects and unpolished sounds.

Ryoko Akama is a sound artist/composer/performer, who approaches listening situations that magnify silence, time and space and offer quiet temporal/spatial experiences. Her sound works employ small and fragile objects such as paper balloons and glass bottles, creating tiny occurrences that embody ‘almost nothing’ aesthetics.
