Choi Joonyong (Seoul, South Korea)

He founded Astronoise(the first noise project in Korea) with Hong Chulki in 1996, and has been playing so-called noise/experimental/improvised music since then. He usually plays playback devices such as CD-player, MP3-player, tape player, VCR, and loud-speaker by utilizing the fallacy to expose their innate sounds from the mechanism. He is involved in collaborations with other artists and released many albums including five solo albums such as Danthrax which is made with malfunction of CD-player. He is interested in control and failure of playing through improvisation and composition. Recently he is working on solo performances questioning the inferiority and perception of sound which changes according to the surrounding environment and context. He runs a label called ‘Balloon & Needle’ releasing experimental music from Korea and does the cover design for most of the releases since 2000. He also plays bass guitar in a doom metal band ‘Vomit & Tear‘ with members of SklavenTanz.

Luciano Maggiore (born in Palermo, 1980) lives and works in London. An active musician in the field of electroacoustic music, in recent years he has developed a strong interest in the mechanisms of sound diffusion, using speakers and several analogue and digital devices (walkmans, CD players, tape recorders) as principal instruments. His interest is focused on the architectural and psychoacoustic as well as dynamic and directional values of sound with a strong emphasis on fixed sounds.
