Electric Spring is a festival of daring electronic music, anchored in the Music Technology Department of the University of Huddersfield since 1995.

ame is proud to host two concerts on the 25th and 26th of February as part of the festival.

Code-based improvisation by Joanne Armitage

Joanne will use SuperCollider to create rhythms and textures on hardware synthesizers.

Joanne is a live coder and improviser working with hardware synthesizers to produce textural and rhythmic sounds. Recent projects includes performative installation Collision Grounds with artist Anya Stewart-Maggs. In 2018 she participated in a coding cultural exchange between Yorkshire and Tokyo funded by Arts Council England, British Council, Daiwa Foundation and Sasakawa Foundation. In April 2019 as part of British Council’s Amplify programme, she gave a workshop-performance at Mutek Buenos Aires. She curated SXSW’s first Algorave (2019) supported by Lush, PRS Foundation and British Underground. During 2020 she was composer and producer for the series Art + Technology. Her work has received the Sound and Music Composer-Curator award (2018).

Edward Cullenary feels like a journey through the electronic dance genre, ranging through the years. His sound is one reminiscent of 90s dance raves, bassline house parties and ambient chill out. With a huge sprinkling of his own flavour and personality. His sound will make your feet tap at the very least, using vocals, synths and drum machines Edward Cullenary will turn your head.
