bodies in-between: Workshop. 4pm.

Bringing together Deep Listening, Feldenkrais and yoga practices, a series of exercises invites participants to use sound to acknowledge habitual bodily practices.

Specifically, and perhaps unlike similar meditative activities, attention is brought to transitions both within the body and between it and the environment, such that an instability of focus, or even lack of clarity, is accepted and encouraged.

This focus on ephemerality and embodied listening unearths a sort of (aural) attention that is often latent or suppressed. This reconfiguration of attention is achieved through noticing or (safely) encouraging minor disruptions to corporeal focus, such that control of the body is momentarily lost and participants must find their focus again.

Having cultivated this manner of listening, the session concludes with performance, during which participants may use (consciously or unconsciously) the directive tools outlined through the exercises to freely explore transitions within attention.
