Huddersfield-based artists and colleagues from around the UK, Europe, and the world (!) present a celebration of musical improvisation and community across the afternoon and evening of January 19th 2023. Curated by Henry McPherson, ‘many people felt present when they were there #2′ is the second event in a series of community-centred open improvisation sessions, first presented in 2022 in Glasgow. The event brings together acts such as Brutalust, the Glasgow Improvisers’ Orchestra, the Noisy Women, the Noisebringers, along with contributions from Canadian Piainist-Poet Stanford Cheung, emerging improvising artists from Huddersfield, and many more! Performances will be running across the afternoon, and will be livestreamed.

Anthony’s music focuses on an intermingling of his practice as an improviser with the voice, his explorations of transducers for feedback/spatialization, and his interests as a composer making scores of various kinds (text, audio, interactive code, etc…). These ideas are put into tension to articulate ways of sharing intention and problematizing imagination.

Linda Jankowska

Linda Jankowska (Poland/UK) is a musician whose artistic practice orbits around long-term collaborations and multifaceted modes of working with sound that stretch her limitations.
Primarily a violinist, she works at an intersection of contemporary instrumental performance, improvisation and composition.


She is also an active concert producer, contemporary performance researcher and educator.
